Mid Season Tables
You get a fair idea of where you’ll finish up come the
mid-way point of the season and as it stands, Haverfordwest will most probably
be crowned champions with Carew chasing them all the way.
Who would have thought that at the start of the season? The
Town would have been in many people’s minds in terms of who could win the title
with Neyland also firmly in people’s thoughts but Carew wouldn't have been.
This can be seen as being unkind for the county’s most
decorated club having slipped off the radar last year when all eyes were on
Neyland and the Town. This year they have climbed up the table like stealth as
though they are on a secret mission to nip in for the championship on the final
day of the season.
They may even get there sooner given they are only 13 points
behind Haverfordwest while Neyland have slipped well down the ranks after a
series of heavy defeats (and in the case of last weekend, a heavy losing draw).
But, the season isn't over yet and it won’t be until the
fattest of ladies sings so in the meantime let’s have a look at an alternative
Division One table depending on the team with most runs, most wickets and those
who have conceded the least runs and wickets.
Most runs first and Cresselly top the tree with Johnston in
second place just 45 runs behind (not surprising when you have Steve Mills in
your ranks, he’s hit three tons already this season and who would bet against
him hitting more?).
As for most wickets well, Haverfordwest can lay claim to
having the best bowling attack having taken 78 wickets so far, six ahead of
Cresselly (aren't they meant to specialise batting?) while Haverfordwest also
have the most miserly bowlers having conceded 165 runs fewer than Neyland.
As for the team who has lost the least amount of wickets
then step forward Carew as you have only lost 33 compared to Haverfordwest’s
38.

Condolences to Stackpole cricket club after the tragic loss
of Stalwart Peter Mackay in a traffic accident on Thursday night. I didn’t know Peter personally although I know his son Richard who is a fine cricketer in his
own right for the Lillies.
As a mark of respect, all games involving Stackpole have
been postponed this weekend.
Our thoughts are with them.
